A Dummies' Guide to Being Online
Below are some simple steps to understanding the opportunities available online through Freeparking.
Step 1: Register a domain name
A domain name (such as yourname.co.nz) is your address on the internet like your home address where people can visit your website. Freeparking offers a free single page web site with all domain name registrations so people just starting out can put up basic information such as their offerings and contact details using our templates for free.
Step 2: Add e-mail
For a more professional look for your business you might consider adding e-mail accounts to your domain name. So if you had the domain yourname.co.nz you could add e-mails such as info@yourname.co.nz or sales@yourname.co.nz. Using your domain with your e-mail address is a quick and easy way to advertise your business (info@yourname.co.nz) instead of someone else's (i.e. yourname@xtra.co.nz). Freeparking offers two e-mail packages of 5 and 15 accounts starting as low as $49.95/yr.
Step 3: Add web hosting
Web hosting is the space used to display your website on the World Wide Web. Freeparking offers web hosting packages that include a domain name, e-mail and other extras such as databases and e-commerce, for those who want to either design their site using software such as FrontPage or have a web designer build one. In addition Freeparking offers hundreds of templates to build your own site using SiteBuilder. Hosting packages start as low as $149.95/yr, and upgrading from domain only or domain + email is easy.
Step 4: E-commerce
If you're interested in selling products online Freeparking offers a free shopping cart to display your products with the Plus, Professional & Premium hosting accounts or you can choose to add other shopping carts such as Miva Merchant. After securing a shopping cart you have the option of manually processing credit-card payments through a merchant bank account or using WorldPay which allows real-time processing of credit cards online and you are paid accordingly.

Unplugged & Online
Cool Blue Radio is not your typical radio station. In fact Terry Hancox decided to take the high road and offer listeners something totally different that might closer resemble your favourite coffee shop with a mix of jazz, blues, European, Americana, Cuban, Brazilian, African and more. To top it off it's listener supported so no need to worry about adverts.
"Cool Blue Radio allows the listener to appreciate the roots of various styles and broadens the breadth of music that listeners might not have heard before," stated Terry.
Cool Blue Radio started in 2002 and quickly built up a large following in Auckland and around the world online. Online they've been able to reach a worldwide audience and allow listeners to hear their beats wherever a connection is nearby.
"Freeparking has been great with stable servers that allow us to look after our listeners and a great payment gateway called WorldPay that enables us to accept donations from anywhere in the world without the hassles of currency exchange."
Note: Freeparking does not host Cool Blue's audio streaming service.
